Bekelé Republic.

Cultural Architecture from Kingston, Jamaica

A Jamaican cultural institution built on rhythm, drama, and the power of performance. Two studios. Multiple productions. One architect. Everything connected.

Rhythm is how we gather. Story is how we remember. Performance is how we claim our place. No one builds it for you — so we build it ourselves. This is the Republic.

The Architect

O’Maro Bekelé

Jamaican drummer, dub poet, playwright, director, producer, actor, and educator. Cultural architect. Builder of institutions, not just events.

Bekelé has spent years at the intersection of rhythm and drama — performing, creating, directing, and teaching. Everything he builds carries the same intention: to give the Jamaican voice a stage worthy of what it has to say.

The Republic is the structure that holds all of it. Two studios. Multiple active projects. A growing body of work rooted in cultural truth and built for longevity.

“Bekelé is not something you watch. It is something you enter.”
